Maj-Lis Jalkio began her dance training here in Minnesota with the Andahazys. She recently taught at St. Paul Ballet. She taught ballet and jazz at The School of Richmond Ballet for four years before moving to Boston where she taught at Boston Ballet School from 1986-2010 (just under 25 years). She taught everything from creative dance through Level 4 and the summer intensive Dance Lab. Maj-Lis spent several years teaching at Walnut Hill school in Natick,Ma and at Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre. Other teaching credits include Pennsylvania Ballet School and Jeanette Neille Dance Studio in Boston. She developed and managed fitness tapes for Risers' Fitness Company in New York featuring Nicholaus Technique and was Co-Director of Dance Heights Center in Brooklyn, New York.

While getting a theater arts degree at the University of Minnesota, she performed on the Minnesota Centennial Showboat and did a USO tour of Germany.  Locally, she performed at Chanhassen Dinner Theater and was resident choreographer of Eastside Theatre. She performed Off Broadway at Equity Library Theater and off Off Broadway at Playwright's Horizons, Henry Street Settlement and Walden Theater. She has performed in several productions for the Country Dinner Playhouse and Windmill Dinner Theater touring Dallas,Fort Worth and Houston as well as Denver, Colorado and Scottsdale, Arizona and has performed in several shows at Virginia Museum Theatre in Richmond,Virginia. She has choreographed for numerous revues and musicals.
